How Many Travel Giveaways Should You Enter?
If you're interested in winning a free vacation, you've probably asked yourself this question at some point: How many travel giveaways should I actually enter? Should you enter one every now and then? Should you try to find dozens every month? Is there some magic number that gives you the best chance of winning?
After entering travel giveaways for years, I've come to a simple conclusion: there isn't a magic number. Instead, I think the better question is, How many travel giveaways can you realistically enter without letting it become another job?
My Personal Approach
Like most people, my days are busy. Between work, errands, appointments, and everything else life throws at me, I have to decide how much time I want to spend on any activity. Entering travel giveaways is no different.
Whenever I come across a legitimate travel giveaway, I'll usually take a minute or two to see what's involved. If the entry process is simple and the destination looks interesting, I'll often go ahead and enter. It doesn't take much time, and every entry gives me another opportunity that I didn't have before.
I don't keep track of how many giveaways I enter each month, and I don't set quotas for myself. Some weeks I might only enter one or two, while other weeks I may enter several more if I happen to come across them. For me, consistency is much more important than chasing a specific number.
Keep an Open Mind
Like most travelers, I certainly have destinations that appeal to me more than others. If I see a giveaway for Costa Rica or Hawaii, I'm naturally going to be interested. At the same time, I've learned not to limit myself too much.
Years ago, my girlfriend convinced me to go on a Carnival cruise. Honestly, I wasn't very excited about the idea because cruising just didn't seem like something I would enjoy. I'm glad she talked me into it because once I experienced my first cruise, my opinion completely changed. I had a wonderful time, and today, whenever I see a legitimate cruise giveaway, I'll almost always enter regardless of where it's going. If I had dismissed cruises from the beginning, I would have missed out on discovering a style of travel that I genuinely enjoy.
That experience taught me to stay open to new destinations and new ways of traveling. Sometimes the trips you never expected to enjoy end up becoming your favorites.
It's Not About Entering Hundreds
Some people think they need to spend hours every day entering giveaway after giveaway, but I don't think that's necessary. I'd rather spend a few minutes entering legitimate promotions as I come across them than turn it into a daily chore. Travel giveaways should be fun because they're about creating opportunities for experiences you might not otherwise have. The goal isn't to overwhelm yourself. It's simply to give yourself more chances than you had yesterday.
Always Choose Quality Over Quantity
Not every giveaway is worth your time. Before I enter one, I usually take a quick look to make sure it appears to be legitimate. If something doesn't seem right, I simply move on. There are plenty of reputable travel giveaways available, so there's no reason to waste time on promotions that make you uncomfortable.

So, how many travel giveaways should you enter? My answer is simple. Enter as many travel giveaways as comfortably fit into your schedule without letting them become another responsibility. If you see a legitimate giveaway for a destination that interests you, spend a minute entering it. If another one pops up next week, enter that one too.
You probably won't win your first travel giveaway, and you'll almost certainly lose far more often than you win. That's simply how giveaways work. The important thing is to stay consistent because every legitimate giveaway you enter gives you another opportunity. After all, I never expected to win a free getaway to Lake Arrowhead, yet one simple online entry turned into a memorable vacation. You never know which entry might become your next adventure.
